Children Affected by Migration in Guatemala
Problematic
Children from skipped-generation households, affected by migration, more frequently show cognitive and developmental delays. There is a need to understand the cognitive and behavioral effects of children of migrant parents in these countries and in host countries, as this phenomenon continues to grow in the region.
Solution
Analyze the effect on the social and emotional development of children left behind by migrant parents or who have experienced migration. To study the economics of care behind the relatives or caregivers raising these children and the parenting practices they apply.
